Ride with us today

This work is powered by people who believe in visibility, pride, and showing up together — on bikes, in community, and in moments that matter.

Your donation helps turn shared values, empowerment into lived experiences — and keeps this community visible, connected, and moving forward.

OUR 501c3 APPLICATION IS PENDING!

WE LOVE WRITE-OFFS. WE KNOW YOU DO TOO.

And because we respect both your generosity AND your tax return, we’re doing this the right way.

Dykes on Bikes® Rehoboth Beach Women’s Motorcycle Contingent, Inc. is a Delaware non-stock corporation with a pending application for recognition of federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, pursuant to 26 U.S.C. § 508.

While our application is under IRS review, we are pressing pause on corporate sponsorships. This protects both you and us while ensuring full compliance.

We are not open to sponsorships or grants… yet. We are currently accepting individual donations and in-kind contributions. Contributions made prior to IRS approval support our startup and foundational costs as we build this organization with care, transparency, and integrity.

The Important (But Friendly) Tax Truth

Contributions are not currently guaranteed to be tax-deductible. If our application is approved and filed within the timeframe permitted under Treasury Regulation § 1.508-1(a)(2), donations may become tax-deductible retroactive to our date of incorporation, as allowed by IRS regulations.

No goods or services are provided in exchange for contributions, consistent with federal substantiation requirements and 26 U.S.C. § 6115.

Thank you for supporting our mission at the ground-floor stage — your belief helps us build something lasting, compliant, and community-powered.

This is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal, tax, or accounting advice.

What’s the Difference Between a Donation and a Sponsorship?

That’s kind of like asking the difference between a motorcycle and a dirt bike — both have two wheels, both go fast, but they’re built for very different terrain.

An individual donation is a gift given simply to support our mission — no ads, no logos, no promotion required.

A sponsorship, on the other hand, usually comes from a business and includes visibility or marketing benefits (think logos, shout-outs, or brand placement).

Because the IRS treats those differently under federal tax rules, sponsorships require additional structure and reporting compared to individual donations. That’s why, while our 501(c)(3) application is pending under 26 U.S.C. § 508, we’re welcoming individual and in-kind donations and waiting to open sponsorships until everything is officially approved.

Same heart, different handlebars — and we like to ride responsibly!

IN-KIND DONATIONS: LOVE IN REAL-WORLD FORM

In-kind donations are kind of like gifting a hoodie instead of a gift card — and in this scenario, we love the hoodie you picked out! These are non-cash contributions of goods, space, services, or skills that help keep our wheels turning and our community supported in very real ways.

While our application for federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code is pending pursuant to 26 U.S.C. § 508, we are able to accept in-kind donations that directly support our mission. In accordance with IRS guidance, we do not assign a dollar value to in-kind gifts, and no goods or services are provided in exchange for contributions. With the donor’s preference, in-kind supporters may be gratefully acknowledged on our website as GRATITUDE — not as advertising or sponsorship.
